  • New fields remain interactive unless you choose to flatten. Standard-font text must use supported characters. Check values and appearances in your recipient’s PDF reader.

Questions about pdf forms

Are the fields real PDF form fields?

Yes. New fields are standard AcroForm widgets, rather than painted text boxes. Save without flattening to keep them fillable.

What does flattening do?

It makes the visible field values part of the page and removes their interactivity. Keep an editable copy if you need to change the fields later.
