How to compare PDFs
Choose two PDFs
Choose the original and revised PDFs.
Review the differences
Review text changes or compare page images; pair different pages when needed.
Save a report
Download the text or JSON change report and keep your original documents.
Before you save
- Use up to 100 MB across both PDFs, with no more than 100 pages in either document. Files are read locally and are not modified.
- Text comparison ignores whitespace and pairs pages by their file position. Reflow, shifted pages and scans can require manual review. Empty or unreadable text is not treated as proof of equality.
- Visual differences compare bounded page renderings. A changed pixel may reflect layout or rendering differences; review the original pages.
Questions about PDF comparison
Can I compare scanned PDFs?
Use the visual view for scans. Text comparison can only compare extracted text and reports pages without extractable text as uncertain.
Does the report change either PDF?
No. Both documents stay unchanged. Reports are separate local downloads containing the detected changes.
