How to redact a PDF

  1. Choose a supported PDF and open the page you need.
  2. Mark the areas you want to remove.
  3. Apply redactions, review the result and download the copy.

Before you save

  • A black annotation is not a redaction. Use the redaction action and check the exported copy.
  • Protected, signed or unsupported document structures can be refused to avoid an unsafe output.

Useful details

Is this just drawing a black box?

No. The tool applies PDF redactions to supported content. Review the saved output and make sure the intended content has been removed.

Can I recover content after redaction?

Treat redaction as permanent in the exported copy. Keep your original securely if you need it for your own records.
