What Happens to Your File

OxnaPDF reads the document /Info dictionary and catalog /Metadata streams of your PDF locally in browser memory and displays the current Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, Creator, Producer, CreationDate and ModDate.

When you save changes or choose Clear All Metadata, the tool updates or wipes the /Info fields and strips catalog /Metadata (XMP) and /PieceInfo streams so stale XMP packets cannot contradict your new properties, then saves a new PDF copy on your device.

Limits

  • Accepts unencrypted PDFs up to 100 MB and 500 pages for metadata inspection and removal.
  • Text fields (Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, Creator, Producer) accept up to 500 characters each; dates use YYYY-MM-DD or ISO date format.
  • Changes document-level properties and XMP streams only; it does not alter visible author names printed on the pages themselves.

Good to Know

  • Use Clear All Metadata before submitting anonymous peer-review manuscripts or public filings so hidden Author, Creator or Producer strings from your word processor are removed.
  • Removing XMP /Metadata and /PieceInfo alongside /Info ensures PDF readers that prefer XMP over /Info do not still display old author names.
  • If you also want to strip embedded attachments, JavaScript actions and external links at the same time, use Sanitise PDF.
