What Happens to Your File
Your browser decodes your PNG or JPEG image locally, re-encodes it on an offscreen canvas to strip embedded camera EXIF and location metadata, and lets you position, resize and rotate it over any page of your PDF.
When you save, OxnaPDF embeds the cleaned image object into a new PDF copy in browser memory and verifies the output without uploading your PDF or picture.
Limits
- Accepts unencrypted, untagged PDFs up to 100 MB, 500 pages and 150,000 objects when placing images; digitally signed, XFA, Collection and scripted files are refused.
- Each placed PNG or JPEG image can be up to 5 MB and 25 megapixels, and can be rotated by 0°, 90°, 180° or 270° across up to 1,000 placements per session.
- Placing an image over existing page text covers it visually but does not delete the underlying text from the PDF stream.
Good to Know
- Transparent PNG logos keep their alpha transparency when placed onto a PDF page.
- If you want to stamp the same logo across every page of a document with adjustable opacity, use Watermark PDF instead.
- If you want to turn a folder of JPG or PNG photos into brand-new PDF pages rather than placing a picture onto an existing page, use Images to PDF (jpg-to-pdf).
Questions
- How Does Add Image to PDF Differ From Images to PDF?
- Add Image places a picture onto an existing PDF page, whereas Images to PDF creates new pages from photos.
- Is Camera Metadata Stripped From Placed Images?
- Yes, camera EXIF metadata is stripped automatically when placing PNG or JPEG images onto your PDF.
- Are My Images or PDFs Uploaded to a Server?
- No, image placement runs locally in your browser on OxnaPDF's own engine.
- Can I Rotate and Resize an Image After Placing It?
- Yes, select any placed image in your session to drag it, adjust its width and height, or rotate it in 90-degree steps.
- Does Placing a White Image Over Text Redact That Text?
